Safe Spaces for Comics Fans

This is pretty cool.

A comics fan named Copperbadge posted a sympathetic response to someone’s issues with sexism at her local comic shop by inviting people to comment with “recommendations for shops in your area where you’ve had positive experiences as female comic fans.”

Copperbadge then aggregated the comments into a new post, Hater-Free Comics and we got a great mention!

This also resulted in the creation of the Tumblr http://haterfreewednesdays.tumblr.com/ titled “Safe Spaces for Comics Fans” and we’re currently at the top of the list!

Black-owned, with at least one woman as a clerk, MYP is full of awesome.

[mod note: I can vouch for this one too! I’ve always had really great experiences there.]

We are honored and flattered to be included (says the previously mentioned woman clerk)!

SNOWMAGEDDON SALE on FRIDAY & Weather Status Update

Hey folks,

I know we’re all looking forward to the 2 feet of snow about to fall on us so to CELEBRATE we’re having a SNOWMAGEDDON SALE on FRIDAY, 8 February 2013. That’s tomorrow in case you hate the Gregorian calendar.

25% off ALL graphic novels (excepting used ones) Friday, 11am until mid-afternoon or so. The Governor is already asking people to be off the roads by 2pm and the MBTA will be suspending all service at 3:30pm, so I doubt we’ll be open any later than that.

With regard to SATURDAY, we suggest calling first: 617-492-6763. Theoretically (unless things go radically wrong) we’ll be open by the afternoon, but no promises.

Enjoy the snow!
